Debate Physically disciplining children

I don't think some people on here have an idea on how mean some kids are. These are a lot worse than South Park kids. They spend a lot of time viscously humiliating others.

The world is a violent place. But people need to stop the cycle of abuse. Beating your kid because he beat up another kid isn't going to do shit.

They need to beat the parents. I'm just kidding. Some real redneck parents out there for sure. Kids become like the parents.

Yes agreed.

I'm a pacifist and abhor violence, physical or emotional. I could never strike or scream at a small child. That shit fucks them up. :(

My opinion is find out what works out for you when bringing up your kids. What works for Mr A's kids might not necessarily work for Mr B's kids.

Physical discipline is not an acceptable form of punishment. It can harm a child both physically and emotionally and may perpetuate a cycle of violence. Nonviolent discipline strategies, such as positive reinforcement and setting clear boundaries, can effectively teach children appropriate behavior without causing harm. There are cases where children who are treated like that by their parents, end up becoming criminals and start indulging in crimes from their home itself.

Yes, I can agree with that. My g/f and I don't have any human kids. We prefer fur babies. :)

We are reading the subject while we are not nervous or angry and then resonates in our brain. Things could totally differ if you are facing the situation. When a person is out of control and very angry then the action will differ from what everyone says for half of them.

What are your thoughts on parents physically disciplining children? Is it an acceptable form of punishment? Why or why not?

My religion will say that you spare the rod, and you will end up spoiling the child. What do you think about that and where my stand lies? I won't spare the rod when it comes to training my kids as it is very important to ensure that they understand that actions have consequences, and that includes them focusing and becoming better at handling things as they grow.

If someone has these issues and can become violent (as happens too often), they probably shouldn't have kids to begin with.
Exactly true. Policemen could decide if they see there is violence applied to children to move them to another family and place their parents in prison. Violence never solves problems or corrects children's bad attitudes. Other technics could solve bad actions like medical care for children addicted to smoking, gambling, alcohol, and drugs, and not exercise violence.

Modern educators might want to disagree with me but I feel that sometimes it is very important to discipline your kids physically. When I say disciplining physically I don't mean you should be harsh on them, but something like not letting their play with their favorite toys, not letting them enjoy their favorite delicacies will certainly help

But what do YOU believe? Times have changed, minds have been opened, it's time to reassess things IMO.

Taking favorite items from misbehaving children is a great way to discipline. And it's not physical. By that, I mean like spanking, paddled, hitting, etc. That, I am completely against.

Children start learning to lie a lot to their parents. They also do not talk them any problems or inquiries in life. Relationships will give me pocket money and nothing more than that. In adolescence, it will be hard to repair this relationship.

What form of discipline do you suggest then?

This is not what you are mentioned by private their favorite things. I am talking in case parents are exposing violence to their children then all this would happen. Then violence never could solve problem or repair wrong behavior of a child.

I don't have any kids and I don't want any. I don't want to bring a new life into such a messed up world....

Physically disciplining children is a part of many cultures. It's been like that for centuries in many parts of the world. It goes bad at times, but not every child hates their parent for that.

Kids being physically punished for not doing homework is wrong. There were some teachers that did that when I was in middle school. That was the extremely early 90s.

You see that act of impulsively spanking a child, if my my future wife should try it with any of my kids, I am so filing for a divorce. I was so spanked as a kid growing up that I had complex issues and I won't want that with any of my future kids. I prefer to talk to the child or deny some privileges.
